| Students Remember Victims And Survivors
Of September 11 Attacks

Serrano Middle School, North
Verdemont Elementary School, San
Gorgonio High School (San G), and
San Bernardino High School
(SBHS) students are paying tribute
to the victims and survivors of the
September 11 terrorist attacks during
special events this week.
The Serrano band is holding a free
patriotic concert Wednesday,
September 7 at 6 p.m. at the school,
3131 Piedmont Drive in Highland.
Musical selections will include “The
Star Spangled Banner” and
“America, the Beautiful.”
For the past nine years, North
Verdemont students and staff have
planted rose bushes in tribute to the
victims of September 11, 2001. Fire
fighters from Fire Station #232 and
members of the U.S. Forest Service
and local law enforcement have
been invited to participate.
The public is invited to attend the
memorial service, which begins at 9
a.m. North Verdemont is located at
3555 W. Meyers Road in San
Bernardino.
San G students are holding a doordecorating
contest.
School staff will
judge participating classes between
8:30 and 9 a.m. on Friday, September
9.
During a rally on Friday, September
9 at San Bernardino High School,
students will honor Cora Hidalgo
Holland, an SBHS alumna and
passenger on American Airlines
Flight 11, which crashed into the
North Tower of the World Trade
Center.
