Famed author/screenwriter/director Gary Hardwick recently signed copies of his latest novel, “Dark Town Redemption,” at an event held at the California African American Museum (CAAM). Hardwick best known for his screenplays, “The Brothers” and “Deliver Us From Eva,” spoke about his life growing up in Detroit, the challenges of today’s writers and talent with the increasing number of reality TV series and writing and selling screenplays. Inspired by true events of the post-Vietnam era, “Dark Town Redemption” is a suspense thriller and murder mystery that depicts race relations during the late 1960’s. “At CAAM we’re committed to programs that educate and inspire our community,” said Program Manager Elise Woodson. “I feel privileged to have watched Gary’s career flourish from the streets of Detroit to the hills of Hollywood and appreciate him sharing his time and expertise with CAAM.”
