The City of San Bernardino is home to a new elementary school, EXCEL PrepCharter School. EXCEL Prep serves students from Kindergarten thru the 6th grade, presently with a current enrollment of just under 100 students.EXCEL Prep, which was authorized by the San Bernardino City Unified SchoolDistrict, is located on the sprawling campus of Ecclesia Christian Fellowship. The vision of EXCEL Prep is to develop a network of high quality, community-centeredcharter schools that will provide at-risk students with the academic tools and socialsupport needed to become confident, competent learners and leaders.

EXCEL Prep’s mission is to enable children who have been educationally underservedto develop the knowledge, skills and character necessary to succeed in high school,college and the competitive world beyond. We will accomplish our mission throughthe following: High Academic Achievement Goals, Individualized Standards-Based Instruction, Character Development, Community Involvement, and Enrichment Programs. Our philosophy is derived from Aristotle’s quote: “You are what you repeatedly do; thereforeexcellence isnot an act, but a habit.” At EXCEL Prep we believe that when given the propermodeling and consistent reinforcement all students can develop the excellent habits, leadershiptraits and academic skills necessary to lead productive lives and pursue higher education.

“We are very excited to begin the new school year at EXCEL Prep Charter School. Our students, parents, and staff are off to a tremendous start,” stated Principal Jessica Miller, “together, we havecreated an amazing community where students come first by providing a safe environment in whichstudents are challenged through a rigorous academic program and high expectations. We have theflexibility to create the programs we believe will best serve the students in our community.
